Can someone please tell me the names of the .php files that indicate which version of smf i am running. The reason is... is that i want to replace these files with a backup that I have to get my forum back to 1.1.18.

pretty much i had a database problem that caused my site to break. at the time i thought it was a smf problem so i tried going back to some of my older .php files on the site.

my forum says 1.1.11 and is having many errors including the following:
Unable to load the 'main' template.

Also, if i have these types of errors, can i still safely upgrade to 2.0.4 and start a clean slate without any problems? Thanks

It's really hard to give you advise given we don't know the state of all your current files. The 'main' template error is most likely caused by some bad coding in your default theme's template files, presumably index.template.php.

If you don't have a lot of mods installed I'd recommend grabbing grabbing fresh SMF1.1.18 files or SMF2.0.4 and overwriting all your current files with new ones. Keep in mind if you upgrade to SMF2.0 you're going to lose any mods or themes you currently have installed. (Upgrading SMF)

...This is why you should always have make daily and weekly backups of your site so you could easily restore old files.

Thanks for the reply, I have reverted back to a backup, my site is now at 1.1.18

The indicator at the bottom now says 1.1.18... however I am still getting the
QuoteUnable to load the 'main' template.
error.

If i upgraded to 2.0.4, do you think it would fix this error? Also I do have mods on my site but I am okay with them being disabled if I upgrade to 2.0.4

And you said "default theme's index.template file" maybe I'll try to revert to a fresh 1.1.18 default theme index.template.

Thanks again.
