Hello, as you folks now, on smf admin there is a link to update the forum automaticaly. I always could do it through this link that is in the update version warning sentence. Lately i´ve been trying to make it but i get this error " There are no installation or uninstallation actions defined ". Ialready read about this issue but on old posts, so, maybe, someone have a fresh solution for this.

I have the 1.1.15 version and want to upgrade it until get to 1.1.18

Anyone can give me the solution for this issue.

Many thanks in advance

Luis

Yeah, the 1.1.16 patch has been broken for some time.

Instead of using the link it's trying to give you, download http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/downloads/smf_patch_1.0.22_1.1.16.tar.gz

Unpack it on your computer, rezip it and upload it as a regular mod. I don't know why the team don't fix it.

The file is corrupt. Do you know if i can update directly from 1.1.15 to 1.1.18 ? That file seems to be ok.

-sigh- I already know the file's corrupt. That's why I told you to download it to your computer and repackage it to make it not corrupt.

You can upgrade directly but it will mean you lose any modifications you have already done because it will replace every single file in your forum, which is why you normally have to do it version by version.

Hello arantor. sorry to bother you again but, i compressed the files again to zip format and the file is told corrupt again. I´m using a win rar evaluation copy and it only gives me the option for rar or zip, but i think you meant compress it to tar.gz format. I tried to upload the 1.1.18 and it´s possible. I didn´t aplly that patch. It was just to test. I don´t know how to manage this. If you can extract and compress it to me, would you do it? If so how could you send it to me? Or if you know another way to do this, please tell me.

I really apologise for bothering so much, but i really would like to fix this.

If there is anything i can make to make it up to you, please tell me.

No, I didn't mean recompress what you already have. I mean to *uncompress* it so you have a bunch of files first, then you rezip them (and zip works fine). I would provide the package for you but I'm not legally permitted to do so myself. (1.1.x licence prohibits me from doing so)

And you can't just jump to 1.1.18 using the large upgrade package, it's not designed that way and it will remove all your mods to do so. (It's not meant to be done via the package manager)

Uncompressing it i just have 3 files. If this is correct, please confirm if you mean that after zipping it again i should upload this through cpanel ( server ) and not through package manager.

That's correct. You should have three files. Now make a new zip file with those three files as the contents, then upload that new zip file to the package manager.

Where did I say you had to use cPanel?

Edit to clarify: the original package is broken, by making a new zip we fixed it in a way that the package manager can read, so we just use that. Then you'll be able to add 1.1.17 and 1.1.18 as normal.

i don´t get it arantor. After zipping it it still say it´s corrupt.

Luis

Arantor

So you made a new zip file (and it was a zip file not a rar file) and uploaded that to the package manager... yes?

efp

yes i´m sure and confirm that i did a zip file and uploaded it through package manager.

For sure.
