so is there anyway that i can make it open in the frame?  i liked it that way so my users could easily navigate back to other pages on my site after using the forum.

index.php, find and remove (or comment out) this:

header('X-Frame-Options: SAMEORIGIN');

Do note that running SMF (or any php script that uses sessions) in an iframe is prone to troubles with logins and other sessions being dropped, will have bad links that link to things outside the frame and is generally a poor idea.

It is a much better idea in today's age of CSS to design your forum to match whatever site you want it to be a part of.

If your setup is broken by SAMEORIGIN, you have very serious problems with respect to security anyway.
