login modules between smf and mambo??

i am having trouble...i unpublished the mambo login module and use the smf login module, i register a test user and it will register it into smf, but when i tried to log back in, the error message is " you're not authorize to use this resource, you need to login", this message come up even if when i tried to login with a non existing user. 

i don't understand something, when integration between smf and mambo.  Does the smf login module has to be use as the login/register in order for the register user to use one user name and password for the two platforms? I was told by support (mambo) that the smf module must be use? is this correct?
