Multiple sets of forums?

Ok, I'm a rookie so I don't know much of what I am doing, not even sure if this is the right spot on the forum to post, but I am wanting multiple seperate forums on my website, and I was thinking it would be nice to just create subdomains for each and install it there, will this work? Can you install multiple instance of SMF on 1 domain but seperate subdomains, or is there another easier way have seperate forums under one domain? It's a new site, so nothing even on it yet except a SMF so I can change anything I need to. Anything to watch out for when doing this? Thanks for any and all help.

Well... There are a a couple of things...  If you are just starting out, I would not recommend splitting your forum like that. You will be diffusing the power and content of your site... Because subdomains are separate domains as far as Google is concerned, with link mojo.

There are at least 3 mods that allow you to do it, however...

Ending it with "however..." is a bit scary.

Any help with what they might be or why it's ended like it's not a good idea to use them either?

Kindred could you kindly tell us which mods you were talking about?
I was able to find only these ones --> http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=3730 and http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=3148, I am missing the 3rd one and more if you say there are more

Thanks for the links and the welcoming flavio, will look into them. Didn't even think about the log ins of the users if I used subdomains. Believe those mods will help me out better!

Indeed they will but Subforums mod had some unfixed issue since 2.0.7. Please do backup your forum database as well if you are thinking of installing it.
