Hi,

I installed SMF & just realized that there's no email validation for new users.
So basically after new registration, new users usually should get email validation send to their inbox...making sure if it's a valid one then they can proceed to login to the forum.
But to my surprise that validation email doesn't exist in my SMF, i can just simply register using any random email & it automatically logged me in...without needing any validation at all.

Is email validation feature must be turned on manually? if yes, please advise how to do it?

thx

Branko.

Registration>Settings>Method of registration employed for new members:Email activation

Remember: As an admin you can create an account without validation (it's logical, think about it)

If you want another email feature on registration to prevent people registering on your forums with a fake e-mail address  try EmailValidator

do also note that email validation is not actually valid as an anti-spam action - since most spambots CAN and DO validate at the email they put in.
