Forum Customization, E-mail Activation , etc

I posted a topic some minutes earlier in this board, but this topic has an entirely different issue to talk about.
I customized my forum that new users registering on the forum must activate their registration from their mail. I did this and tried this with several times, but there was no mail sent to new users to activate their account unless I the Admin manually do that. So, my question is: Is there anyone here that can help me with a way or is there a mod that does this? I have installed several mods on the forum and yet nothing seems to work. I seem to be totally confused.

what mods did you install?
What, specifically, is not working (aside from emails not getting sent)

What SMF version?
Did you install it locally or on an actual server?
If on an actual server, read the link that Steve posted... (regarding the email issues)

If there are some other issues, please detail them.
