Hello forum!

I'm having a really weird issue on my forum. It has been unavailable for some days now and started giving this error without any config changes, server changes or anything:

Temporarily Unavailable

Due to high stress on the server the forum is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later.

I asked the host if there's some stress issues on the server but there seems to be none. There's disk space etc. available. I didn't find anything suspicious from the server logs.

I've been trying to solve the problem and googled it, but nothing seems to work. Anyone could help me?

Kindred

That is definitely a host issue... Who us your host?

A URL for your site might be useful, too. ;)

Its a hardcore porn site so I doubt you want that spamming in here. the bitly link works and suggests settings.php atm is not right.

Kindred

Temporarily unavailable is not a message that is generated from bad settings.php.

And, a hardcore porn forum actually makes the bit.ly url even worse, since it is hiding what the URL is.
The proper respinse in this case would have been a notation that the forum in question is a porn forum and that the URL can be provided in pm.    Hiding a URL behind bit.ly means that we have no idea what we are clicking on at all.

Ive clicked the link and its the standard response when settings.php is not set right. Ive just confirmed it on a site of my own before posting back.

QuoteConnection Problems
Sorry, SMF was unable to connect to the database. This may be caused by the server being busy. Please try again later.

Want the exact link ?

Kindred

Ah, now see....   That is a very different message from what the op originally reported!

And yes, that suggests that the database has gone missing, or that the connection info in settings.php is indeed wrong.

All of which still works out to: talk to your host. Get the correct connection details from them and make sure that settings.php has those correct details.
