images/attachments in Topic Summary?

Hi Friends,
This is a feature I'm looking for, and I've either overlooked it in all the options, or on the Mod site, or it just doesn't exist.  If there's a mod, could someone point me to it?  Or if it would make a nice mod (which I think it would), does anyone have comments, or encourage me to meake a request?  Or if there's some existing config for it, could someone tell me where to look?

As often happens when allowing attachments for members, they will upload their images or screenshots or illustrations as attachements, instead of finding their own host embedding the image.  I'm guilty of the same thing myself, I guess.

However, that means, in the Topic Summary (at least as far as I understand, this is the reason) the image doesn't appear.  I find myself constantly having 2 tabs in my browser, open to the same topic, so in one, I can view the attached image, and in the other, I can write my reply.

Maybe this is more annoying for me, because my forum provides support for a graphics program (Inkscape).  So attachments are almost always images, rather than text, or other types of files.

Does anyone know any relief for this?

are you actually running 2.1 beta?

However... no, there is no mod or feature for 2.0.x or 2.1 to do what you are asking.

I'm not quite sure I understand what you are asking, but are you looking for a mod that takes attachments and adds them into the posts itself instead of underneath the post?

If so, then either of these two mods might work-

Ok no, br360.  The Topic Summary (maybe is called topic review in other software?) is below the full message editor (not quick reply), showing only the text of messages, including embedded images, but not attachments and not profile info.

However, I am just about to install the mod that lets you put attachments inline.  Possibly that might work, but for some reason, I'm thinking it won't.  I will report if it does though!

i think most people these days use the quick reply so they dont realize that you are talking about the summary of posts made on the full reply page

$context['previous_posts'] is used to create that preview, it does not include the information you want to show beyond what is shown already.

it is always possible to add more to the array to show what you want but in this case i dont think it is a "small task".

if you really want this you should open a topic in the mod requests board explaining exactly what you want.

OMG - I can't believe it!!

The inline attachment feature made it work!  If I use the inline attachment feature, those images do show up in the Topic Summary.  While not inline attachments, in the same post, do not show!

Ha-ha!!  I'm sure I can't depend on this as a long term solution.  But I'm happy with it for now

The quick answer to your question is: QUITE HARD.  Long answer: Look at the changelog here.....

Btw, The Post & PM Inline Attachment mod works for SMF 2.1 Beta 1 & 2.....
