Mouse pointer losing focus

When I go to new reply, the window opens fine, but when I start to type, the mouse cursor moves to somewhere else on the page. I am using the default theme on version 2.0.10. Any ideas why this should happen, when using any other software the mouse always stays focused on the current text boxes?

Are you saying the line is moving out of the text box, or that the mouse itself is moving away? If the latter maybe check your settings, it might be moving the mouse cursor away to keep it from distracting you?

When the post reply window appears, as soon as I type, the page scrolls down so I no longer have the reply window in view, have to scroll back up and click in the window to focus the mouse pointer in the window and it is OK then.

Basically the mouse pointer is not automatically focused on the open window.

Can you please give me a link to where this is happening? Also what browser?

I've never heard of this! Have you googled to see if other people are having scrolling issues with that mouse?

the post box does not automatically inherit the focus.

Are you saying that you click IN the post box and start typing a message and THEN it jumps?   Or are you saying that you click reply/post and when the page loads, you start typing (without clicking in the post-box)?

If the second -- then it is behaving as expected.

I assume he's saying he's clicked it, tried to type, and it's gone down...so perhaps it's unfocussing itself?

Ha ha, I've done worse XD.

Actually, if it is what I am assuming then I also assume the page is not loaded when he tries to type. Cause now that I think about it it happens to me when I'm impatient.

Can we be asses together? Cause I seem to be making quite a large hole here ha ha.

Have attempted to reply to a post just now, post window opens up as normal, cursor flashing as expected, start to type and nothing happens, have to click in the window before I can type, but at least the page has stopped scrolling now.

Are you saying that the post window does not automatically focus, and you have to click in the window even if the cursor is flashing there?

Jade Elizabeth

I just clicked reply and no, it did not put my cursor in the text box.

It's never ever done that before ever. So yeah you do have to click the text box :D.

That said if I press tab on the topic page it goes right there, and if I press tab twice on the reply page it also goes right there. Maybe that will help? :D

might depend on your browser.  Firefox does not autofocus for me... I have to CLICK IN THE POSTBOX before I start typing.

Chrome also doesn't auto focus.

Strange, on my board the cursor does show and flash in the reply window, but in replying to your post, no cursor until either clicking in the window, or as you suggested press tab.

Looks like you have to click or tab to be able to type. Perhaps a mod to automatically focus in the reply window could sort this one.

Jade Elizabeth

I'd like to know what you have installed on yours that makes it do that ha ha.

Nothing extra installed, my mouse settings set to focus mouse cursor in current window, I use Firefox by the way and someone said that this does not autofocus on SMF boards.

It works perfectly well on all the other forums I frequent, so maybe an SMF Mod needs looking at.

Jade Elizabeth

Can you show me a place where it happens? Maybe I can make it happen? :)
