Small forum, yet it's somewhat slow.

Hi,

I've done almost everything in the performance improvement checklist, except for using InnoDB, but my forum is still a little slow.

It's not very large:

I have contacted my host - I use HostMonster, with a shared server - and they insist that my website is fine.  Indeed, the frontpage of my website is quite fast, but the forum software itself is slow.

I have 47 mods installed.

I'd like to get rid of some, but it won't let me - it just says that it's Unable to Find the Files for the mods!  I was wondering if I should use the Repair_Settings PHP file, or just do a fresh re-installation.

How can I go about solving this?  Any help is appreciated.

i really think your issue is your host. i bet if you changed to a non-oversold host most of your issues would go away due to that.

Hahaha!  Yeah, you know what the tech support guy from hostmonster told me?

"Your forum is fast, bro!  I don't see any problems!"

I didn't know whether to laugh or cry.   

I found some better hosting companies, but I'm nervous that my problems might still happen, so I'm trying to see if I messed up somewhere along the time.  I'd be rumbled if I switched hosts and still had problems.

i dont think you need a VPS, if you dont know how to manage a server dont go for an unmanaged server either.

all the hosts listed here http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?board=155.0 are not oversold.
