Are there any issues with running MySQL 5.6 on 2.0.14?

Arantor

Can depend on the MySQL strict mode settings.

What would be the best course of action?

Setting "SQL_MODE" to "NO_ENGINE_SUBSTITUTION" or empty to disable it?

SpacePhoenix

Will any queries that fall foul of the strict mode be changed so that they don't fall foul of MySQL's strict mode? Not everyone will be allowed to alter the settings for MySQL's strict mode

Arantor

Honestly, I doubt it, the issues tend to be mods rather than core SMF.

So ... it's quite possible I'll have issues with MySQL 5.6 and SMF 2.0.14?

Possible but it is an easy fix. There is no reason not to. Newer versions of software are better optimized and supported in most cases.
