Curve 2 looks awful on mobile...

I quite like the Curve 2 style on desktop. It feels more like IPB3 which is a good thing for me, while still retaining that nice SMF style we all know and love. However usability on mobile is atrociously bad, to the extent someone legitimately said it was worse than the mobile layout from some obscure, half-decade-ago-abandoned forum software that relied on hacks (some AcmlmBoard clone thing).

For me it felt also rather issue filled and kinda broken, like that MyBB GoMobile plugin from the 1.6 era.

Anyway, I was also having some issues on my phone using the theme - everything feels too cramped like the thread listing and it all feels a bit tacked up, like someone had literally just put the viewport meta tag and not adapted anything else.

It seemed a lot better in terms of functionality for both me and the aforementioned user once I removed from the index template the viewport to equal the device width, changing it to force the viewport to 768px (which is the display resolution I use now)...

could the theme be updated or looked into and is this something that is being worked on already? thanks :P

maybe if you provided some screenshots of the issues it may help us see what you view as issues and let the devs see the issues so they may be able to fix them if necessary.

Sir Osis of Liver

I don't like the mobile view in most of the responsive themes I've looked at.  You can modify them to suit your own preferences, I've done that to a couple of 2.0 themes for my own use and for other forums.  Themes are pretty much an individual thing (I don't especially like Curve2 at all :P), if you can diy you'll be happier :) and your forum will be more distinctive.

Kindred

I happen to disagree with your statement and find the mobile view very usable on Curve 2 (and no... we are in RC. No major changes will be made without a serious flaw/reason being discovered)

That being said...

Make the modifications that you want... or have someone else do it for you and use their theme... that's the amazing thing about open source. :D

I'm already tweaking the layout very slightly for use on a custom site.

Am going to once I can. Currently my Internet is screwing up on my PC so I've got my phone tethered to it via USB also as I said I forced a viewport so it might not be too accurate (I'll revert it temporarily or something when I'm taking them)

@osis I might tweak about with it sometime more when I get around to, I agree the theme does make an important impression and aspect the overall feel of a forum... :3

@Kindred ah, alright, sorry if it seemed kinda offensive in a way tho idk, at least it's not dysfunctional (i.e. everything still does what's generally expected) I just find it quite cramped tbh

We're going down the route of modification as well.
I think it works great on mobile but want to add the following quickly, specifically for portrait view;

- Mark as Read button
- Recent Posts button (not just Unread and Updated Topics)
- Do not show category descriptions on mobile/portrait
