I use a lot of images for almost all of my posts. All of which I have to FTP to my images folder. It adds an extra annoying step to every article I write.

I'd like to know if there is a mod which would enable the admin to upload images directly to a selected folder so they can be tagged? I tried Dougiefreshes mod but Facebook and Twitter don't see the image when run through the debugger and validator. That is why I upload all of my images and [img] tag them in my posts.

Thank you

Illori

have you tried a gallery mod?

Kindred

no....   there are at least 2 gallery mods though that allow image upload and inclusion in posts by tags.

Allowing upload to a directory would be a security risk.

Can the gallery mod be hidden so nobody ever sees it?

Kindred

permissions. yes.

although, without access to the gallery, I'm not sure if images included in posts are visible.

reiterate my statement though. Allowing direct uploads to a directory is a huge security risk

Can be done with a gallery. I have lite version on the site. You can control with permissions who has access to it.
The pro edition has an addon to allowing uploading to a gallery from a post and then you can use that url in your post

Have you tried the image upload feature built in to TinyPortal's article system, you can upload images and them for use in articles or posts if you wish..

I will ask out of curiosity. Where exactly is the image upload feature in the TinyPortal settings?

Sorry, thought I'd replied to this, but obviously I didn't.  :-[

The article system has it's own image upload feature, it's there for articles, but I've also found it useful for embedding images around other parts of the site, including the site logo posts, blocks etc.

So for example, if you,

1: Unless you already have this turned on. Temporarily turn on the WYSIWYG editor in the article settings.
2: Add a new html article ( give it a name, something like "My Images" and save it, (don't activate it).
3: Below the editor box you'll see  "My Images Quicklist" and "Upload a new image into the quick-list:"

Upload a image using this feature and immediately after you upload the image you can right click on it and get the url you need to embed it where you want.  A Post, and block, or obviously articles.

In article settings there is also a setting to enable the DragDrop feature in the WYSIWYG Editor, so you can just drag and drop images into the editor should you wish.

If you want to delete images, you'll find in TP admin a "TPListImages" link where it will show all the image you've uploaded, with a delete next to each of them.  Remember, if you delete image from here, it will disappear from the place you embedded it as well.
