Large spreadsheet attachment causes Post to fail

I am using SMF 2.0.17. I have Post attachment limits set at 175mb for a single attachment and the attachment directory at 3,000mb. When I submit a Post with an Excel spreadsheet of 55mb there is a delay and I can see that the file is being uploaded. The screen then clears to an empty Post screen with no error message. I am using Chrome under Windows 10. As far as I can see there are no log error messages. The information in SMF on the attachments directory says it has loads of space.  Can anyone give me a hint as to where to start looking to solve the issue?

Thanks

You don't wish to upgrade to 2.0.19? It is strongly recommended.

Thanks for the prompt responses.  It was not a good time to make possibly dangerous changes to the live site until now, hence my delay in replying.  vbgamer45 is absolutely right.  I was using default settings set by Bitnami who supply my SMF setup.  I have made changes to:

  • upload_max_filesize
  • post_max_size

in php.ini as suggested by vbgamer45 and everything is working as I want, I can upload much larger files.

In response to Steve.  I do wish to upgrade to 2.0.19 but it was not a convenient time and don't think that it would have solved this problem.

Thanks you both for your resonses.

I didn't suggest that it would. Was just a reminder that upgrading to the latest stable version when you can is strongly recommended. :)
