I am a moderator on a forum that uses SMF v2.018. I am trying to identify an issue we are having, so I can start researching a fix.

I have attached an example of a user post, where html has been inserted into the text along with tiny fonts and weird formatting.

That would be a problem with the content that the user is pasting....   it's not HTML, it's BBCode (and wierd BBCode at that)

SMF does not natively support BBCode like color=var(...   which is why it's showing up (because SMF doesn't know what to do with it and thus treats it as text.
Regarding the small text -- I assume that the user has defined some sort of font and size bbcode as well....  but since the color BBC is broken, the broken tags also break the font tags.

In short, there's nothing you can do.... there's nothing even the admin of your site can do -- except ask the user to write better BBCode in posts.

do you use the WYSIWYG editor? looks to me more like a copy and paste issue and wysiwyg in 2.0.x is a bit wonky and doesn't really work well anyways

but yeah as kindred said not much to do other than either ask the user to fix their post using correct bbc or edit the post yourself
