Since I upgraded my forum from 2.1 RC3 to 2.1.1 I don't get e-mail notifications when I get Private Message and when a new member is join to the forum. I asked some of my members and they don't get e-mail about their new PM either. Before the upgrade I got e-mail about new PMs and new members. What could be cause this?

Check your own notification preferences, most notifications I believe are defaulted to alerts.

Also check how long the mail queue is.

I checked it, all the settings are the same as tehy were before the updrage. I have enabled the e-mail notifications.

Queue length is set for 0

In that case I would assume the emails are being filtered in one end or the other. Are you using PHP or SMTP? Sometimes simply switching to SMTP will fix issues like this.

I'm using PHP, but I used it before the upgrad too and I got e-mail notifications about PM (and my users got too, but now they don't get) and if a new user registered.

Steve

Meaning you don't want to try to switch to SMTP to see if the problem corrects itself?

Remember, 2.1.1 is a different ballgame than 2.0.x ... a lot of things work differently. What harm is there in trying it?

I didn't say that. But as I said I didn't upgrade from 2.0 but 2.1 RC3. I'm using 2.1 since the 2.1 RC1 was released and never had problem with e-mail notofocations with using PHP settings. So, because I never used SMTP, would you tell me how to set up that? What server name, port and user name I have to use? Where can I find them?

Aleksi "Lex" Kilpinen

The exact settings depend on your e-mail provider. It is much like setting up an email client on your computer or phone.

Do you have access to cPanel in your host account?

If you do, there may be a "Track Delivery" option under the "Email" section to discover what, if any, delivery messages are being received or rejected.

RML

@ Aleksi "Lex" Kilpinen - I tried that but didn't help. In my error log I got the "Mail server response codes could not be retrieved" error message.

@Shambles - I cheked that option but there wasn't any information, the list is empty.

So the list doesn't even show successful email deliveries? That, in itself, is spooky and deserves a query to your host.
