well when i try to install it gets the package_get_error_is_zero cause that test fails. this happens only if i use the in page mod list and select download from in there.... not if i go to the mod portal and download and upload from there...

Post splited. Your issue is not related to that topic where you previously posted this. In cases like this, it is best to start a new topic rather than posting in unrelated topics.

That being said, can you please post a screenshot of the area that you mean by the following?

it is not really the best idea to the use the package server to get a mod. you should look on the mod site to get the best view and download/upload the mod.

skelgaard

its so antiquated to do it that way... this one is both faster and easier to do it with and by default only shows me those i can use...
and this way has been working in all the other versions, so why does it suddenly not work any more...
you can also get notified about updates to the used addons that way, so its easy to keep once site uptodate

Arantor

Because while it worked for you, it didn't work for a lot of other people so it got partially rewritten.

Except that perhaps your server doesn't play nicely with it now...

It hasn't been a recommended thing to do for a long time, though, however convenient it might be (and in fact as time goes on it will be less convenient because mods don't get updated to include current versions so they won't show up in your list even though they'll work just fine)

the first thing i do on any mod portal, is always check of my current version and only watch whats updated and working for the version i have... if mods dont get updated, they are not of much use to me.... if i need a mod that doesn't get updated, i will download the source my selves and fix it then.

but again... having to self go to the mod portal, to check if a new version of my mod has been released is really a waste of time... this should be automated inside the admin panel, so that admins have an easy way to se and update any mods.

Arantor

Or you could select the 'subscribe' feature to get notifications of updates?

skelgaard

so when we are 4 admins on the site, each of us have to subscribe to get notified just to go to the page and find out another of the admins have already updated it ?
its not all sites that are just run by one admin and not all of us, that just one one SMF site....

I way more prefer to get notified by siteA that it has an update and siteB has an update, rather than having to run though multible sites to find out which once of them, that uses that addon.....
