No access to forum after administrators demise.

I've been a user of a forum running SMF 1.1.21 for many years, sadly the sole administrator passed away recently. He had made arrangements ( I don't know what) for a user to take over. But that has not worked. All we now get is:-
 Table './hippock_HPAforum/hpf_messages' is marked as crashed and last (automatic?) repair failed

Is there any way you could pass on my e-mail address to the new admin so that I can help?

No, sorry but we would not even know who that would be. We have no records of who uses SMF, we simply give away free software.

The error should be simple to fix, but would require database access to do, and only the admin would likely have that access.

Good luck with that. If you do a whois on the domain, you might gain some contact information to try.

Tried that, but no new leads. I do have a contact email, it does not bounce, but they have not answered for a month!

I guess they were a back-up and not that interested.

If all else fails, and you have exhausted other options, you might consider seeking legal advice. Depending on the laws in your jurisdiction, there may be processes in place for transferring ownership or resolving issues with online communities

You need to upgrade to current version asap.  1.1 branch went eol Mar 2018 and is unsupported, and you are running in an unsupported php version.
