Hello

I'm still customizing my forum, and since my forum are using native language, I need to modify the text, which so far went smoothly via language files in default theme. Most of the language could be translate, but unfortunately the response_prefix (Re:) that appear in every replies of the topics couldn't be translate. Checking these response_prefix, I could see it in index.english.php, but after made a change, these Re: text still didn't change. Did I miss some other files? because as far is I understand, all translation could be made straight away in language folder, primarily index.english.php. Thank you

Arantor

No, it's saved directly into the subject of each post once the post is made.

You'd need to edit each message to change it at this point.

so, it's mean i can't simply translate : $txt['response_prefix'] = 'Re:';?

Correct, because as I said it's physically part of the subject of each message.

When you make a message, the *current* value (for the current language) is stuck on the front of the subject.

i see. okay thanks. just curious, since the 'Re' itself are the text, is there any other way to change the text? so that everytime user make a replies, these text would consistenly be use. I've tried to track down where's the text located, but couldn't find it.

You change it in the language file for all future ones, you edit the actual posts themselves for existing ones.

If you have installed the language pack for your language, you can then edit index.language.php to change it for future posts.

For existing posts you will need to edit the posts themselves.
