I upgraded to 1.1 RC2 when it first came out and it has been running with no problems. Today, suddenly, everyone who goes to my site gets a page or two of

"Warning: Unexpected character in input: ' in /home2/lalegal/la-legal-www/forum/Settings.php on line 2"

before the page loads. There are no new mods and I haven't made any changes in the last couple of weeks. The site is www.la-legal.com/forum/

You tried to take a look at that file?
Maybe you'll notice something weird...

Yeah, according to your error message..there is something wrong with settings.php, try to re-upload it or look on Line 2 for something that isn't right, compare it to the original. :)

Sounds like you may have had a MySQL issue and got unlucky during the error write. Simply restore your backup (Copy Settings_bak.php onto Settings.php)
I'm only a half geek really...

I have looked at the php files and there doesn't seem to be anything wrong.

A problem with mySql seems more likely since the server sent me an auto email about when this happened saying there was a database error.

As for backup, unfortunately I haven't backed up in too long for that to be much help.

Another odd thing: if I try to go directly to my admin page or if I try to log on, it returns a sessions error and says to reload and try again.

Update:

Renaming settings_bak to settings.php on the server (after carefully looking the file over) seems to have fixed the problem.

Almost too easy.  :D
