Hi,

i deleted the other 2 Themes after Installation because i only want to use the default Style.

But i found that this one is not possible to edit via AdminCP.

But /smf/index.php?action=theme;th=1;sa=edit  works.

Please fix this in AdminCP.

@RyanJones  - this is no Problem at every other Boardsoftware. And in Fact - if i only use this one, why should i switch the template before editing it ? ;)

But i know what you mean. This is the Reason why every other Boardsoftware brings on Themes for the AdminCP seperated from Forum.

Till that - this is a Bug to me. ;)

It is not a bug.  This is how SMF works.  You are not supposed to edit the default theme.  What you should do is make a copy of it.  If anything goes wrong with your copy theme you can always revert to the default theme.  If you screw the default theme up you have nothing to revert too ;)  You can edit it by changing the id # on the url but it is not recomended.

Wow - something every Boardsoftware out there makes by default. I wondered allready why there is no restore Button at the Templates.

Well it's just done to prevent people form breaking their default theme.  You can always use the direct link or download the files and edit it on your PC ;)

How much good is a "restore" button IN the theme, if you have boken the template and your site won't display?

If that's the way other systems do it, I am extremely happy I found SMF before getting sucked into that sort of trap...

If 500 people jump off the same bridge, does that make it a good idea?

Did you ever test this Feature at vBulletin ? It is the best idea !

never tested it... never plan to ever use Vb...   however, it sounds like a BAD idea, to me...   as I said, what use is a "restore" button in the theme is the modifications you made are screwy and prevent your template from loading?

DO things the right way. Make modifications on your local system and upload changes.  That way, if your template screws up, you can upload your previous version and fix it instantly.

Admintheme is principially different from Forumtheme and Templates are completely Database based.

I co-admin a vBulletin forum and yes I've used their theme system.  I'll take the flexibility and power of SMF's template system over the horrible theme system of vb.

redlabour

Muahahaha ..... :) Unbelivable ... remember me that i never use anything coded from you.
