Protecting my folder

SMF Version: SMF 1.0.6
Hello,

I just installed smf 1.0.6 and at the end it said to delete the install file and it worked by clicking on that link provided.

But it also said something about protecting my install folder, what folder is this?

There is no install folder in SMF.  All you have to do is delete install.php and you're good to go
