Please do a search.  It has been asked a couple of times.
1.1 RC2 is newer but still in testing stages.  1.0.6 is older but stable.

No problem.  If you are comfortable with beta software you can go with 1.1 RC2.

Yes 1.0.6 can be upgraded to 1.1 RC2 but you can't downgrade form 1.1 RC2 to 1.0.6.
