Hi there

I guess you may be getting sick of these posts but here goes...

I think I have tried everything.

I've tried a fresh install of 1.07 and get an error that indicates

Unknown column 'pm_email_notify' in 'field list'

I've tried a fresh install of 1.1RC* and get the errors that indicate there are duplicate messages - It stops at about the 20,000th message.

I know what you will say "delete the duplicate message" etc - Tried that - 50 odd messages later and it still keeps going.

I really want to use SMF and integrate it with Joomla.

To help here are some statistics about my board:

    Number of posts: 182181
    Number of topics: 14615
    Number of users: 2063
    Board started: 08 Nov 2001 00:00
    Database size: 136.76 MB

And before you mention it - No I don't want to prune the board messages.

Hi

Please can you tell me if you have any mods installed on phpbb?

yup, i've had the same thing happen on my board.

I've got lots of mods installed, mainly cat. heierarchy, attachments, and more.

Another problem is that attachments are not showing up in the smf posts

J. Williams

Well his forum conversion went well, just joomla integration to do.

@Biff,The more mods on phpBB,the less secure it becomes.

Just to let everyone know...

I am now a proud owner of a fine baby SMF. :D

I would like to take this opportunity to thank JJ Williams who delivered it. 8)

Complications with the birth? It was a drawn out labour - thankfully SMF pauses every few thousand of posts otherwise the server would of given up.

Tips

Back up your dB more than once!

Solution for the future?

It would be a really good idea to have one definitive post with no-one else posting to it with comments etc.

In this post it would say something along the lines of:

These are the conversions which have been known to work:

1. phpBB 2.12 > CMF 1.07 using x file and y file.
2. phpBB 2.12 > CMF 1.1RC2 using x file and z file.
3. phpBB 2.14 > CMF 1.07 using j file and y file.
4. Jabba 23.98 > CMF...

and so on.

I spent absolutely ages trying to find out what to do and what to do it with and what to.

If it wasn't for JJ I would not be a proud SMF owner and would be putting up with troublesome phpBB or even worse paying for vBull.

Steve

Similar sized database or maybe large both in number of posts and users and total DB size and am thinking of switching.  Could you please put down a step by step guide so that I can have a smooth transition.

Thanks

J. Williams

1. Grab the converter & SMF INSTALL ZIP (Best recommend 1.0.7)(Converters on Downloads Page)
2. Install SMF
3. Upload the converter and run it :P
