well smf arranges them to, they are verry nicly orderd i must say,
its like 1, 2, 3, 4 and up, how more arranged can you get?

this is a stylistic choice...   and as all style choices, it's something that may appeal to some and not to others.
I believe this is acocmplished with only theme changes... (I have not looked carefully at the mod to tell for sure)

So... if you like it, then make a theme that uses that style...  personally, I HATE extra lines like that...    it's one of the (many) things that annoys me about Vb boards...

I prefer everything as tight as possible... single lines for message titles, single line board tree, etc.
I definitely don't think this should be standard for the dfeault SMF theme.
