Changing where language strings are pulled from

How do I change where my language strings are being pulled from? Currently index.english.php is being pulled from the default theme, but even though I'm editing the file, there is no change. There is no index.english.php in any of the other 2 theme folders. I also put one in the language folder in my custom theme, but that isn't working either.

The /language folder you're editing in the default theme is only used if you have no /language directory in the theme you're currently using.

Meaning, if your theme has a /language folder, all the edits you make to the default one will obviously not be seen.

When you said you're editing the file, how so? You're reuploading it to your server right? You're also clearing your SMF cache in maintenance (if you're running 2.0) ?

Totally kidding on this entire topic, I just realized that I was editing index.english.php instead of index.english-utf8.php.

Oh, ok. Glad to see your problem never existed. ^^;;
