[Bugs] Features, or not? Board Permissions and User Deletion

Ok I've been playing around with a few so called "features" that are in SMF. And they seem to simply not work.

Firstly, Permissions by boards. I set my "Announcements" board to not allow anyone except Mods and Admins (by selecting all the other groups and choosing "Clear Permission" for "Create Topics"). I then and create a brand new user and post up a new topic on the Announcements board. Oops...

So I'm annoyed. So I log back in as adminstrator, leave the bogus topic, and go straight for the deletion of the user. I do this and select the option called "Delete users topics and posts" as well as ticking the delete user box.  I click the delete button. I then check my forums - lo and behold - the topic I created earlier is still sitting there, unharmed. Oops...

[Edit] I searched, and found nothing.

And as a final point, if you haven't implemented them, why the hell are these features appearing at all? Why not comment them out, saving you losing face when users such as I have to post up these "bugs".

I am using SMF RC1 and have added on nothing, other than features that were already installed. I upgraded from YaBBSE, but I can hardly believe that changes anything (the new user was created while the forums were SMF). And these are only two features I am sure are not working, I've not played around with much else.

Tom

Kelnage, I have used the features you are talking about, and they work great for me.  They aren't non-implemented features.  :)

Kelnage

So how come they don't work for me, and I've got another person using the "Permissions by board" option and it doesn't work for them either?

Well, are you certain you're clearing for ALL groups - even post groups?  Because it works here.

That works too, not sure what's wrong with your installl... :P.

No, it doesn't change anything.  My development forum was once YaBB SE.

Ok, just tested deletion again. It ain't working. The user goes, but the posts and topics stay.

On the permissions, that's exactly what I'm trying to avoid [Unknown]. I want posters to be able to post up replies, but not start their own topics. I'll try disabling them as well, but it's not what it says on the tin!

Kelnage

Tested it. Nope, even with "Replies" cleared, brand new members can still post there.

Could there be something majorly wrong with my install? Could I replace the .php files?

[Unknown]

Can I have a link to and administrator account on your forum, please?

Ungrouped Members -> Post new topics -> A, changed to X.

Create user test -> login as test -> can't post new topics.

Post Forgive me, this is a quick test post. in "Off Topic" -> delete self and posts -> didn't work.

But, the first one works.... and now that I think of it, there may have been a bug deleting topics with no replies in the last beta - and it works now in my test board and here.

But permissions definitely work.

Ok, thank you very much [Unknown]. Is it possible for me (a non-member) to get the new version yet or do I have to wait?

[Unknown]

Non-member?  How are you posting here then :P?  If you mean Charter Member...  well, they don't even have access to the pre-pre-pre RC2 yet.

It won't be long before it's out.

Whatever :D Charter members, members, it's all the same to me.

Thanks for your help anyway.
