Registration Mod Needed

I run a forum where I have to approve all registrations.  On the new registration approval page it would be fantastic if I had a dropdown to assign the new registered members to a Membergroup.  Say, replace the IP address with a dropdown for Membergroup.  Then when I approve them they are automatically assigned to the group I've selected.

As it is now I have to go to each profile, assign them to a group, go back to the approval screen and then approve them and send their email or verification notice.

Any chance of getting someone to tell me how I can modify the theme in this way??

It would save me a lot of time.

I'm using RC2 right now but am upgrading all this weekend to RC3.
