My board is hxxp:www.triplepointterra.com [nonactive]

I had the exact same problem posted in this thread:

http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=115339.0

I thought the solution suggested there had fixed it. I unchecked the enable gzip compression button in admin and I no longer got the page of gibberish, but when I went back to my board today, it still was dowloading poorly; I had trouble accessing admin, and when I tried to click on threads the pages would not download but merely show a blank white screen. Also, there were red x's where some of the buttons should be in the skin.  I downloaded firefox browser and eveything works perfectly; I have reports from users using firefox that the board works perfectly; it just seems to be from Windows IE that it doesn't work. I do have all the most recent IE updates. Is this a widespread problem with compatabillity between IE and SMF or is there some other possible cause?

Thank you in advance for your time and concern.

Works fine for me in both Opera 9.00, and Internet Explorer 6.0 (whichever version came with Windows XP SP2, I never really use it anyways). It's not a case of incompatibility between IE and SMF, but rather a problem between IE and gzipped pages (pages which are compressed to save bandwidth). You'll find that most sites using gzip compression aren't compatible with IE due to the latest "updates".

In a perfect world, everyone would use either Opera or Firefox, and all the problems would be gone. However, this isn't happening (yet, anyways :D). So, if you still have some Internet Explorer uses, leave 'Gzip Compression' off until Microsoft fixes this problem. Note that with this off, your forum will possibly use more bandwidth (as none of the pages will be compressed).

Not sure if you have compression turned on now or not, but I can see the bulk of your forum fine as a guest.  I do get some red "x" images where I guess some button should be.  Like in your Welcome forum, the second column are all red "x" just to the left of the Subject.  I right-click on the image for the URL and it just shows the website address.  It's not pointing to an actual image file of any kind.

Now, on my forum, I do have Compression Turned on and I have never had any problems with anything.  Using IE6 with Maxthon Tabbed Browsing Shell.
