phpbb2 to smf - mysql only?

Hi

I'd like to convert my phpbb2 forum to smf. I understand I can run a converter.. however, the problem is... I no longer have any of the phpbb2 files in that directory. See, I accidentally deleted them when I deleted another folder. I was going to reinstall phpbb2 to restore it but thought SMF would be better. 

Can someone tell me if I can convert just my mySQL database (which is still intact) over to SMF? or do I definately need the files in the phpbb directory? and if so, which files? is it just the config? or some others too?

Any advice would be much appreciated

but i think that you DONT'T NEED of the phpbb files in your ftp space.

just install a new SMF board and run the correct converter.

Howaver it seams that these converter don't work fine.

just try.

anyway the conversion Don't erase or modify your phpbb tables, just add SMF tables at DB

We're aware of the issues with the phpBB converter, but for whatever reason nobody has bothered to do anything about it yet.

Also, you will need to keep your config.php and extension.inc files from phpBB.

Can you try this one and let me know if it works? I'm going to try to get this issue taken care of within the next couple of days, but need to make sure everything is working before I do.

i wish i had known this was here, i just did a phpbb2 to smf and i would of tried it, but i went the other route, converted to 1.0.8 then upgraded the forum.

maybe next time.
