Any way of doing this?

Would be interesting to see what the most popular searches are...

Owdy

Nice idea :) It would be nice to have also in stats area: ' 10 most popular searches'.

OK... so not much interest for this! ;)

But is there any way of doing it!?

Or should I say... does anyone have some spare time to write some code for me ;)

http://www.phpdig.net/

with this php search crawler u can spider every given url with admin and detailed stats.

Cypher7

Thanks for the link, but I'm not quite sure if it's what I want!?

Are you saying that it will log every URL that was visited on my site... and then I fish out the search related ones!?

Would that not slow down the performance?

You can login and then type in eg.

search/crwal a website - http://domain.de/SMF/

or any URL :P and his dig depth.
Then it gets listed and is avaiable for the search.

And this is not a IP logger which safes the user ip and additional infos.

Well i  tried this only for phpBB2 yet and it was ok.
It even run under SAFED MODE (but breaks after a custom time mybe this is fixed already)
Though you have to do it manuel from time to time but mybe their is some kind of chron jobs already not sure anymore.

Well but hasnt SMF the search stats somewhere?
Even though wouldn t be hard to code to generate them.
But its just a mega huge data which is colacted...a few MB DB will not work long :) (should be tweakable by settings and string length)

I didn't want to start a new topic.  Was this ever considered?  I didn't see any new modules.

This seems like an excellent idea and would be a very useful tool for admins.  Suppose you get a new member on your forum, and all they do is spend time searching for something.  They could spend hours on there, searching, never ever posting.  It would be great to see what interests them.  Maybe you could look at all the other searches and see if there are any similarities to the interests. Perhaps this person is looking for something that interests you and triggers off something in your head as an admin to do something totally and completely different, but you'd have never thought of it before because you did not have access to a search log.

I am sure there are other examples that illustrate a need.  That is mine.  Thanks for the reconsideration of a search log if it's not being developed already.
Rawk on dude!

I made a request for this years ago. Have a table: *_log_search_queries. Within that table there could be two fields. .1) queryString [tinytext] .2) numQueries [int(10)]. The settings could limit the size of the table so it doesn't get too big. Yada yada. It would definitely be an interesting mod. It probably has not been made because this feature only appeals to a few people. None of which are mod developers.
