Hi guys,

i wanna do a clean installation of SMF (rather than upgrading) , i've already done a backup of everything.

Now i've downloaded my old SQL database and done a fresh installation of SMF1.1.1.
How can I  link my old SQL database to the newly installed SMF ?

thanks guys .

I'm not 100% sure you can quite go that route. The upgrate to 1.1.1 (depending on where you are upgrading from) may contain some changes to the database. You could try merging the old DB with the new one in .sql format in something like phpMyAdmin but I wouldn't be too hopeful.

SMF vs. Godzilla? Who do you think will win?

the installation and upgrading take the same steps why do you want to do that i advise you to upgrade using your old forum .

in upgrading you are re uploading all important files so don't worry if something wasn't good it simply will be replaced and you will keep all additional smiles or attachment
I am back. I will try to catch up with some stuff soon.

The easiest way would be to upgrade your current install. Remove any and all mods first, switch to the default theme and then begin the upgrade.

Once your forum is upgraded then you can always go into your database and remove the additional mod enteries if you want everything removed.
