Anonymous boards?

Is there a Mod that allows me to set certain boards/post areas to anonymous?

That is, we had, when we were using phpBB+a mod, some boards/sub-subboards that have all messages posted in them anonymous by default .  The logged-in users still must have to have permission to access that area, just like any other part of the site, but when the message is actually displayed, it is shown as being posted by a designated account setup just for that purpose.

On this previous system, when a message is posted in a thread designated as "anonymous", the message simply saves a designated userid created for that purpose into the database instead of the actual poster's ID.  This has the desired purpose, though there is no way for Admin staff, if necessary to figure out who posted something if necessary.

It's not necessary to have it done this way.

A sketch of a layout is below which may give a better idea of how I'd like to do this.

When a message was posted in the designated board/forum area, the author would be shown as the "anonymous designation" linked to that board with, perhaps, an avatar set to that designation as well.  No other info about the poster would be shown/available to users.  Admins would still be able to see/access the IP of the original poster, if not the username.

Anyway - just thought I'd ask if such a Mod was available (or someone might be willing to create it).

Thanks!

Have you searched the Mod Database yet?

And out of curiosity, would a post in an "anonymous" board count towards your overall post count?  It both should, and shouldn't, as you are making the post, but no-one will know that's your post....

That's not a major issue for us - but something to consider for usability for others.
