I can't install my board because of .htaccess ! I've tried installing it using my shell access and FTP, but neither will upload .htaccess, anyway I can fix this?  :'(

Bigguy

You don't need 2 of these topics. I will delete the other one. With every step you come to in the install ftp in and delete the htaccess file then REFRESH the page don't go back. Do this for every step of the install and it should be fine.

omgunicorn

Yeah, sorry for the double topic. I didn't realise that there was this forum after I posted it in the other one. Thanks!

Bigguy

Actually this should be moved to the install board but I cant do that so we will see if another staff member will. Are you on byethost by any chance. ???

omgunicorn

No, I am actually on 8888MB host. If you need to explain more, e-mail me because I am going to bed.

None of the .htaccess files are essential, although it's good to have them if you can. Could you rename it to htaccess, upload it, and then rename it back to .htaccess?

I've tried the very same, it was just unsuccessful. Although if they're not essential, then that's fine. Thanks for the information, everyone.

Edit; If I don't have .htaccess will it affect security issues?
