RE: Dropdown Menu of Categories?

I know there's a "Jump To" link box in the default template, but I'm looking for something a little specialized.
I have a football site for women (http://www.gridirongal.com) that features boards for all breeds of American-style football ... everything from the NFL to NAIA, etc. Because there are so many boards, what I'd like to do is this:

For each Category (NFL, NCAA, NAIA, Arena, etc.) I'd like to have a dropdown menu that features the boards allowing a quick jump to that board on the very long index page.
For example, here's a dropdown for the NFL:

NFL Boards >>
   Arizona Cardinals
   Baltimore Ravens
   Chicago Bears
   and so on...

And beside that, I would have a dropdown for NCAA I-A, featuring the conference boards:

NCAA I-A Boards >>
   Big Ten
   Big Twelve
   Pac-10
   and so on...

I'm pretty much PHP challenged and haven't a clue how to code this so that it's dynamically
populated with the boards, so any help someone can give on this would be very greatly appreciated.
