SMF Version: SMF 1.1.2
I searched this info and found an 120+ day old post that nobody helped the guy.

So I'll post again

I've just moved the whole forum I have to a new forum. It's still in maintainence mode but in the admin where the smf news normally is I get:

You are unable to connect to simplemachines.org's latest news file.

and

? ? ?

where it normally finds the latest version.

Has anyone any ideas on this one?

Plus the little '?' icons now goto a different page rather than a popup. Could that be serverside

Those were the old posts I was talking about. I went to post in those and it warned me.

But none have a solution. My js settings are no different from the other forum on the other domain.

It seems that it must be a javascript issue as the '?' icons in the admin area that are help hints are supposed to pop-up in a new window...but they don't on the new server.

They still work fine on the old/live server.

As my post says I was thinking it was java as non of the pop-ups worked. I waited for a response to this thread but moved server/host in the meantime and the issue disappeared! I haven't a clue to what it was but I'll bet it was java.

But java is clientside so I'm not sure what was going on
