Hope for fans of the tabs in v2?

Is there any hope for fans of the tabbed menu as opposed to list menu in version 2?  I really like the original tabs in the table form.  Help me SMF community, you are my only hope!

Core will most likely be included in the 2.0 package, just like Babylon was included in the 1.1 package, and if not, it should be pretty easy to style the new menu system to look similar to Core's tabs.

Mainly, I have been working on a colossal mod which I have used the tabs for sub and sub-sub menus, they work nicely.  IMO I think they look better than the list style that it appears SMF is heading for v2.  I hope you are right Sverre, about it coming with multiple themes.
