Many 'children' like smilies to the point they just sit there and click and click. It would greatly deter them if there could be an optional dropdown smilies box, that way, people could still easily post smilies, but it would also save for a tad of loading time.

It could actually be done fairly easy with a DHTML script, so that the smiley images would be shown in the dropdown menu. I'm actually writing a DHTML dropdown script for the color box, so that it shows a small rectangle box of the color that its posting as. :)

Anyway, would this be useful?

It is a great idea and one I'm in the process of implementing at my board right now.  Unfortunately, it is very time consuming to load all the smilies with the 1.5 beta, although I understand it is easier with 1.6 and will be when RC is available.

I suggest you wait.  Right now it is extremely time consuming and cumbersome.  When we get the final release, start a new topic :)

Could there be a multiple drop-down boxes with lables?  Such as one labled "Bears" and one labled "Bunnies"?
