Multiple Private Message Boards

I'm writing an app where I'll need to provide each user with their own private message board where they'll be able to invite a limited number of other users. ALl the boards will be completely separate from each other and there will be no interaction between them.

This means several hundred to several thousand possible message boards. Is there a mod for SMF that provides this capability? I'm thinking that SMF may be way too much for this sort of application.

There are a few, though it seems that most of them have gone under one way or another.

There are a couple "paid" mods that you can get, but nothing for free as of yet that is fully functioning and in perfect working order for a production site.

You can still get SMFXXL at the SourceForge website, though this project seems to be abandoned or forgotten.  From what I've used of it, it DOES function, but it would be wonderful if someone picked up the mod again.
