Creating Forum Catagories that are Postable

Is it possible to make child forums of a catagory the only place in the catagory that is postable?
(And remove the no mesages message in that case)

I mean like

Catagory Recipes (Don't want any posts here)
Child: Beef (Posts go here)
Child: Chicken (Posts go here)

You can set permissions in Catagory Recipes board that no one can post.

Thanks!  hmmmm....how can I set permissions to catagories?  I can set them for boards..but catagories?  Oh..do you mean changing each groups user permissions?

Create category called 'area51'. Under that, create board called 'Recipes'. In that area, denie posting. Then, create those childs under that. You cant have child boards without single 'mother'.

That is how the system works..........but the boards are not "Child" to the catagory. If you like a more compact look then you would create

Catagory ->Recipes(posting is already denied here)
Board -> Recipes (Posting is allowed unless you have set permissions to denied)
Child -> Beef
Child -> Chicken

This design would mean the user would need to click on the Board Recipes then on the child board though and that may get annoying.

If you just add boards to the catagory it would look like this

Catagory ->Recipes
Board ->Beef (posting allowed)
Board ->Chicken (posting allowed)

Another option would be something like this

Catagory ->Recipes
Board->Beef
Child->soup
Child->Main course
Child->appetizers
Board-Chicken
Child->soup
Child->Main course
Child->appetizers

Hopefully this made sense and help you out some.
