SomeChess 2.0

SomeChess is a php/mySql solution for playing Chess in either real-time, or play-by-mail style.  It's a great piece of code really.  Unfortunately it currently has no means for integration with any forum.  It probably isn't going to be much of a priority for the author either. 

I know some of you folks are awesome at finding ways to integrate other apps into SMF, how do you go about it?  I just want SomeChess to use the already logged-in credentials from SMF so the users don't have to log into my forum, and then log in again to get into SomeChess.  It would also be great to be able to display SomeChess as an index.php?action= so it looks like part of my forum.  Where do I start?

In the chit chat section of this site there's already a topic and someone working on a chess modification for SMF. That is actually working (sort of) right now if you'd like to check it out.
