OK has been happening WAY too frequently

Connection Problems
Sorry, SMF was unable to connect to the database. This may be caused by the server being busy. Please try again later

Now- who am I to complain to. If I goto my host they will tell me my site shows no downtime blah blah. And its correct cause the non database stuff works. But what exactly am I telling them to fix

Ive run repair settings and everything is working.
Its getting annoying because my forum members don't care whether its a host thing or a server thing- they come to me because I am the owner. Now I could goto the host but with what because they will say the site is online!

Thanks

Edit: Sorry. Than confirm with your host you have valid MYSQL information. Or contact your host. It means SMF can't reach the MYSQL database.

This can be caused by invalid MYSQL database information.

OK 15 minutes later its back upso when I run repair settings should it take effect immediately?

BTW- I hope I didnt sound rude -I certainly appreciate your superfast response!

Its just annoying because it happens several times day- so its not a direct change to my settings.....as far as I can see.

You run repair_settings.php to make sure you have the correct information. It always can be your host if your sure 100% its the valid database information. So I suppose this is at your hosts end.

Oh Im sure- I just needed to know what exactly to yell at them about because SMF doesnt break suddenly- ya know?

If your site works, suddently stops working and then works again after some time it's definatly a host issue.
repair_settings.php won't help a thing then.
So you'll have to contect them about it. Probably also usefull if you tell them how many users you approximatly have on your forum at the same time.

But still this is not at SMFs end. Since your database information is correct. I suggest switching hosts if this occurs often or contact your current host.

If you are on shared hosting it could also be because of other sites on your host.
Also nothing you can do about that (unless get another host)...
