Installing Themes - Stuck!!

Sorry if this is a bit "template 101" but i'm having trouble installing new templates on SMF 1.0 RC2 working fine with the default themes on a Rackspace box with latest versions of PHP, SQL, etc.

I've followed every bit of information that I can find on the graphics and templates threads, i.e. download, unzip, ftp to a directory in the /templates/ directory then use the adminstration panel to install the template but when i do this nothing happens, nothing get's installed and no error message. I've also tried uploading the zip and tar files via the admin panel and it creates a "themeX" duplicate of the default theme instead.

I've using Mac OS X with Safari and Firefox and I've now tried Windoze XP with IE and Firefox same-o same-o

embarrassed to have stalled almost at the first fence and would appreciate any advice/guidance

If you upload a theme you have to clear the "create a copy of the default theme called" box. That bug has been fixed in 1.0

Your solution worked like a dream when I cleared both boxes and used a tar file to upload.
