I have just started using SMF, and before that I were using YaBB, there they had a great mod called memberguest. It made it posible to give compliments and stuff like that to a single member. And I just wanted to request this mod, and maybe set up a development group to make one. I'm not wery good with php myselfe, but I'm willing to learn. If you are interested in the idea, please send me a pm or contact me on aim, the sn is in my profile.

(a link to the MemberGuest 1.36, again, it would be nice if we could port this over to SMF)

That would be a great feature. I don't really know Perl all that well, but I'm sure there's someone here who does.

I've started making this mod, and I will try to update the file as much as possible. In case you like to join me in the development of this guestbook (because I don't have much time on my hands) I will list my goals with this project:

  • Admin interface where you can set how many entries there can be in a guestbook, if guests are allowed to post, if you can use BB codes in the guestbook, also how long the entries should be (the owner should also modify these things for his own guestbook if he is allowed from admin)
  • Administrators should be able to clear a single members guestbook and every members guestbook (the single clear is usefull if you delete a member)
  • On the header where it says if you have unread messages it should also say if you have new guestbook entries
  • Admins and the owner should be able to clear a single entry or a range of entries in the guestbook
  • It should be a time limit for how long the last poster can add a new message in the guestbook
  • Users should be able to hide their guestbook if they don't want anyone to sign in it
  • Your ideas.....?

Here will the project be updated. And don't hesitate on getting in touch with me, it is so much more fun to make things together with others.

I like what you have so far. My members might enjoy having their own personal guestbook...

Is that supposed to goto your IP address, becuase it says localhost which goes to my computers localhost.

NiXnAx

yea, it is supposed to do that. It's kinda strange because when I ping the adress it pings my outside id :-/

Oldiesmann

"Connection was refused when attempting to connect to localhost"

To get someone's IP address, use $_SERVER['REMOTE_ADDRESS']
