my forum is currently at www.thepropertyforums.co.uk/forum which is redirected from the root. I read somewere that having it at the root would be better for indexing.
How would i go about this so i dont have to reinstall the whole forum? or is there anouther way to get around it?

Move all the files to the root.

Upload and run repair_settings.php:
What is repair_settings.php?

If you have rewrite engine settings made in .htaccess change the rewritebase.

cheers, will it affect my google indexing alot?

[SiNaN]

I think all the topics must be indexed again by google.

Because now it's http://www.yoursite.com/forum/yourtopic

If you change, it will become http://www.yoursite.com/yourtopic

Better you find a simple portal for root. Perhaps using SSI.

will i have to change any of the settigns for the mods?

Rumbaar

If you've moved it to Root and run the Repair Settings tool, all your mods and features should be set to it's new location.

You might have to reset the theme paths via your Theme Settings reset all option.
