Separate calendars for separate sub-boards?

I hope I've posted this in the right place... I've been searching but not finding anything on this particular subject.

I run a board with multiple geographically-centred sub-boards. I'd love to find a way to restrict a calendar to be viewable and writable only from the particular geographic sub-board the user is in. In other words, this would require multiple calendars with separate entries depending on the sub-board you're in. Does this make sense? Has anyone else managed to modify SMF for this, or would I need to look at multiple installs of an external script?
