Is this hosts fault? Some server issue?

Either a server issue, or pages are timing out.

Do they use localhost as their MySQL server, or no?  If not, it's probably a crummy server.

Whats crummy server? It's crappy server, that i know They have terrible configured safe mode in PHP 4.3.0 for starters.

LOL. ok. One of our charters was in same host. He complained to them about safe mode, because package manager wont work in there. Help desk said to him: use phpBB. That was their solution about this issue He changed host, not forum software

SMF works as well as phpBB would on that host...... it just won't have the extra things phpBB doesn't have anyway.

Maybe they'll figure out that they should re-consider their PHP configuration. So far, the worst hosts I've run across are netfirms and godaddy (godaddy has safe mode enabled, and they're so worried about security that they even disabled the phpinfo function - netfirms is just plain bad)...

That charter is me. They just don't want to do anything to reconfigure their PHP or even update it. I'm still on the same host, but i'm moving to a new host, during this month. New one is about 50% cheaper, PHP 5, NO safe mode. Just few good things they have

There is no way to get package server to work with this stupid host. (www.nebula.fi) And my sites are running many different scripts that have problems with safe_mode....

Ok now i have made my move to a new host. It's about 51% cheaper, whole lot more customization options availble, php5, faster pipeline and faster servers.

Oh and yes SMF works FINE now. You can choose between php4 and php5 and i chose php5

No, that forum is still in crappy server. Its not mine, i give support to them. Not talkin about Ville's site. It works beautiful.
