Topics with lots of pictures get cut in firefox (ok in iexplorer and opera)

This is a specially big problem for us, we have 25% of firefox users and a lot of topics with many pictures. We love smf but we'll probably jump to ipboard if this problem continues in smf2... :'(

Click this with firefox to see the problem:

I know this is more of a workaround, but why not just make 2 posts. Then all your pictures would show. To be honest I don't know of many sites where somebody will post that many pictures in one post.

I think it is a bug in Firefox. A workaround is to change the stylesheet.

You can find the stylesheet Themes/default/styles.css
Look for:
/* Posts and personal messages displayed throughout the forum. */
.post, .personalmessage
{
width: 100%;
overflow: auto;
line-height: 1.3em;
}

Remove the line with overflow in it. Possibly after that a reload with Ctrl+F5 is needed in Firefox to see the changes.

-edit- ok...   I see the problem in FF3 (it just took so long to load THAT many images)
but it looks like it is likely a FF bug, not an SMF bug.

side note: holy moly...   why would you have that many pictures in a single post?   it took 3 minutes for that page to load for me... and I am on a high speed internet connection.

If you plan to run a photography site, I suggest you get a gallery program and link to it from your forum.

Are you sure, because I've tested my solution myself on Firefox 2? Clearing the browser cache after you uploaded the css file may be the solution.

yes, maybe, although it's really strange that have been the same problem in FF1 & FF2 & FF3 :(

We run a campervan forum, with a custom gallery integrated in smf, people in our forum like a lot to post pictures about meetings or similar things in the forum, it's not a problem with iexplorer & opera, I really would like to know why it doesn't work with firefox :(

Yes, I get the same result, for example (modified default theme & Themes/newdef112_tp/style.css):

again...   I don't see any reason that one would post THAT many large pictures in a single post.
The page took an incredibly long time to load because of it... even on a high speed connection.

As for ff1, ff2, ff3...   I think this probably proves my point. It's something in the way FF interprets the html/css that is different form the way IE and Opera do so...    this suggests that it is a problem with the way FF does things.

By the other side, this doesn't happen with phpbb/ipboard/vbulletin... ???

SleePy

It might be a combination of both. But it is working FF3 for me so I am confused, it may be a Windows thing.

If you plan to post many images, you could think about changing the image tags or creating a new bbc tag to automatically make them thumbnail sized (though it won't make true thumbnails out of them). Which may help.
