SMF badge instruction needed.

I am wondering if you could point me what tools and how to make graphic like SMF badge like this.



I kept trying to make one like for myself, but kept failing on wrong tools, etc.

Photoshop and gimp are some popular graphic editors.

Even paint could make a similar graphic if needed too.

What are you currently using, and are you skilled in it's operation?  You might want to Google various tutorials as well.
